What to look for in wreaths and wall decor
Look at the back and the base
A wreath is the one thing here you hang rather than stand, so the ring behind the flowers decides whether it survives. Look for a solid frame — willow, rattan or wire — rather than foam, and check there is a proper loop or hanger fitted rather than an expectation that you will make one. A foam base cracks the first time it is knocked and cannot be re-hung.
It should not be full all the way round
A wreath built to the same density for its whole circumference reads as a manufactured ring. The ones that look right have a heavier side and a lighter one, or a section where the base is deliberately left bare so the frame shows through. That asymmetry is the difference between something made and something moulded.
Decide indoor or outdoor before you buy
A front door means rain, frost and direct sun, and most decorative wreaths are built for a hallway wall instead. Sunlight is what fades these fastest, so a piece on a south-facing door will lose its colour in a season while the same wreath indoors holds for years. If it is going outside, plan to bring it in when the weather turns rather than expecting it to live there.
