Artificial Daisy & Skeleton Leaf Posy

A skeleton leaf is what is left when everything soft has gone: the vein network alone, an open lattice you can read a page through. It is a genuinely unusual thing to put in a bouquet, and it is almost always faked badly — a solid leaf with a vein pattern printed on top, which reads as a leaf with lines drawn on it. The two here are actually open. Light passes through the gaps, and the leaf behind the flowers changes what you see rather than blocking it.

The daisies are cut petal by petal with a shallow cup to each one, so the flower face is slightly domed instead of flat, and the centres are raised and textured rather than a printed yellow circle. Two cream roses sit lower and denser to give the eye somewhere to rest — a posy made only of daisies has no weight anywhere.

It is composed with a front. One large skeleton leaf sits low as a collar under the flowers, the second stands high and behind, and the pale strappy grasses trail out sideways to break the outline. Put it in a vase with the collar leaf facing you and the shape is already made; there is nothing to arrange.

Five colourways, all built on the same cream-and-green base so the flower colour is the only thing that changes. At 57 cm tall and 40 cm across it wants a proper vase with some weight to it, not a narrow bottle.
