Monstera fenestrations are where cheap fakes give themselves away: the splits get punched straight through a flat sheet, leaving hard cut edges and a leaf that reads as plastic from across the room. These are moulded with the ribs raised on either side of each slit, so the cuts sit inside the leaf’s own structure \u2014 and no two leaves carry the same split pattern.<\/p>\n
The colour is graded rather than flat. Newest leaves at the top come through in a young lime green, the mature ones lower down settle into deeper olive, and the matte finish means nothing flares white under a lamp. Every side stem is wired, so you can push them into a wide low bush or lift them upright.<\/p>\n
At 28 cm this is a shelf, desk and bathroom-windowsill plant, not a floor one. Push the bound stalk straight into a small basket or a 12\u201314 cm pot, tuck a little moss over the base, and it’s done. Two or three bushes in one pot read convincingly as a mature Monstera adansonii \u2014 the trailing ‘monkey mask’, not the big deliciosa.
